About A/Prof Christopher Alexopoulos
A/Prof Christopher Alexopoulos is an experienced cardiologist dedicated to providing comprehensive cardiac care, with expertise across a broad range of cardiovascular conditions and advanced cardiac imaging.
A/Prof Alexopoulos graduated with Honours from the University of New South Wales in 1999. He completed his cardiology and echocardiography training at Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney. He has been a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and a member of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand since 2008.
He is currently the Director of Cardiology Services at Port Macquarie Base Hospital, where he has cared for patients since 2008, playing a key role in expanding cardiology services across the Hastings–Macleay region.
Committed to medical education, he teaches students from the UNSW Rural Clinical School’s Port Macquarie Campus and supervises cardiology advanced trainees and physician trainees. He is also actively involved in clinical research as a principal investigator in both hospital-based and outpatient trials.
A/Prof Alexopoulos has also served as an examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and is regularly invited to present to general practitioners, allied health professionals, cardiac support groups, and specialist audiences.
