About Dr Cara Barnes

Cara is a cardiologist who specialises in general cardiology, interventional cardiology and structural intervention, including transcatheter mitral and tricuspid transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER), transcatheter aortic valve intervention (TAVI), and percutaneous closure of patent foramen ovale and atrial septal defects. Cara trained in Cardiology in Western Australia and completed a Master’s of Philosophy (Research), then undertook advanced training in valvular heart disease and transvascular valvular interventions at the Oxford Heart Centre, UK. She currently holds a public appointment at Royal Perth Hospital. Cara can provide a comprehensive assessment of coronary and valvular heart conditions and offer minimally invasive treatment options, and is happy to see both public and private patients.
