About Dr Garry Barron

Dr Garry Barron is an interventional & general cardiologist. Originally a NZ graduate; he obtained his Part 1 FRACS but fate led lead to a career change. He moved to Melbourne in 1996 to sub-specialise. Garry was the inaugural Fellow in Interventional Cardiology at Monash Medical Centre for a period of two years. Garry’s interests are in general cardiology and particularly coronary interventions. He was an early adopter of the trans-radial approach and image guided or precision angioplasty.  He was the head of the cath lab at Dandenong Hospital and director of cardiology at The Valley Private/Mulgrave Private for many years.

He had active involvement in interventional clinical research during his appointment at Monash Medical Centre/Monash Health. He has been involved in the training of many cardiology registrars and interventional fellows.

Garry has been managing the cardiological care of patients with general practitioners in Melbourne for the last 26 years. He was involved in the care of in-patients at Monash Health, Mulgrave Private and Peninsula Private Hospital.

His inspiration is the feedback from his trainees and patients.
