About Dr Krystle Lander
Dr Krystle Lander completed her MBBS at the University of Wollongong in 2014. She began her medical career at The Wollongong Hospital, where she undertook her internship and Resident Medical Officer (RMO) year, before relocating to Townsville.
Dr Lander commenced physician training at Townsville University Hospital in 2017 and progressed to advanced training in 2019. During her four years in Townsville, she gained extensive experience particularly in addressing the unique challenges of rural and remote healthcare, Indigenous health, and maternal cardiology.
Dr Lander joined The Prince Charles Hospital in 2021, where she was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). She then completed a Postgraduate Fellowship in Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation, focusing on the management of decompensated heart failure, complex diagnostic cases, and chronic heart failure in outpatient settings.
In 2023 and 2024 Dr Lander undertook a two-year Fellowship in Echocardiology at The Prince Charles Hospital. Her training encompassed diagnostic and structural transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE) for procedures such as mitral and tricuspid transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER), patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure, paravalvular leak closure, and left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO). She also received advanced training in transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), stress echocardiography, and TOE in support of cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
