About Dr Cassia Kessler

Dr Cassia Kessler is a Specialist Consultant Cardiologist with expertise in heart failure, heart transplantation, inherited cardiomyopathies, and cardiac imaging. She holds a Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and is a member of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. Additionally, she is certified as a cardiac CT specialist by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists.

Dr Kessler graduated with honours from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and completed her Specialist Cardiology training at the National Institute of Cardiology, where she also completed a fellowship in echocardiography. She relocated to Australia in 2018 to further specialise in Heart Failure and Transplantation at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, where she worked as a staff-specialist.

Dedicated to research and medical education, Dr Kessler is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of New South Wales and the prestigious Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, focusing her research on cardiac magnetic resonance imaging and cardiomyopathies. She has an extensive record in cardiac research, with numerous peer-reviewed publications in both national and international journals. She also serves as a conjoint lecturer at the University of New South Wales and a clinical lecturer at Macquarie University, where she actively trains cardiology registrars, junior doctors, and medical students.

In her professional role, Dr Kessler works as a Heart Failure specialist at Northern Beaches Hospital. As a general cardiologist, she provides comprehensive care for a wide range of cardiac conditions, including heart failure, advanced heart failure therapies, cardiomyopathies, valvular heart disease, ischemic heart disease, arrhythmias, pre-operative cardiac risk assessment, and women’s cardiology.
