About Dr Tony Rafter

Dr Tony Rafter is an Interventional Cardiologist. He completed a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Queensland before returning to study medicine and graduating with first class honours in 1990. Advanced cardiology training was undertaken at the Princess Alexandra and the Prince Charles Hospitals in Brisbane. 

After admission to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1997 he undertook a two-year fellowship in interventional cardiology at the Royal Perth Hospital and was involved in the development of intracoronary brachytherapy during that time. He returned to Advara HeartCare in 2000 and is currently the Director of the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories at The Wesley Hospital. 

Dr Rafter specialises in interventional cardiology and has a special interest in invasive assessment of functional ischaemia and intravascular imaging. He remains an active member of the TAVR and Structural Heart Team. 

He has an active consultation service both at The Wesley Hospital and Clayfield locations and visits Gladstone regularly for outreach clinics.
