About Dr Matthew Swale 

Dr Matthew Swale is a Consultant and Electrophysiologist. 

Prior to completing a Fellowship in Clinical Electrophysiology at Mayo Clinic – Minnesota, USA in 2012, Dr Matthew Swale undertook General Cardiology & Electrophysiology training at the Austin and Box Hill Hospitals after graduating from the Monash Medical School with Honours in 1999. 

In addition to undertaking positions as a Consultant Cardiologist at The Valley Private Hospital from 2007 and an Honorary Fellow at the Royal Melbourne Hospital from 2008, Matthew joined Advara HeartCare in 2012 and rapidly established himself as an invaluable member of the Electrophysiology team, contributing to expanding cardiology patient services across Victoria as a Senior Clinical Management Committee member. 

Matthew specialises in the ablation of atrial, supra ventricular and ventricular arrhythmias, and in device implantation for bradycardia and Heart Failure to support individualized medical therapy. Author of a number of clinical papers and abstracts presented at CSANZ and HRS congresses, and passionate about evidence-based approaches to General Cardiology conditions, Matthew’s special interest is in the management of arrhythmias and syncope, particularly in the treatment of Atrial Fibrillation and Ventricular Tachycardia. 

As an advocate of lifestyle modification to optimize patient outcomes, Matthew likes to practice what he preaches – he eats healthily and exercises moderately.
