About Dr Matthew Swale
Matthew first gained an interest in cardiology while a resident at the Austin, fascinated by the complexities of cardiac electrophysiology and the ability to ablate and fix cardiac arrhythmias, especially Atrial Fibrillation (AF). After undertaking his training at Austin as an EP fellow her went to the Mayo Clinic for further research and clinical training. On returning to Melbourne in 2012 we joined with Advara (formerly HeartCare Victoria) and took an active role in our EP program, with a focus on evolving ablation, starting the EP service at Mulgrave in 2013 and practicing there for many years before moving to Knox Private.
He is passionate about delivering best procedural outcomes, pioneering the use of Intra-Cardiac Echocardiography (ICE) at multiple sites in Victoria as well as performing one of the first zero radiation AF ablations in the country, something which he now does routinely, and zero radiation ablations for other arrhythmias (SVT, Atrial Flutter, Ventricular ectopics/tachycardia).
Matt also performs device implants and management including ICDs, CRT and Conduction System Pacing. He runs the Doncaster AF/Arrhythmia clinic and POTS clinic, both of which focus on a wholistic approach to patient management, from lifestyle through to medical and interventional therapies.
His approach is one of listening to the patient, helping them to develop a good understanding of the problems at hand and finding a solution to their issues where evidence based medicine meets personal needs.
