About Dr Amit Michael

Dr Amit Michael is an interventional cardiologist specialising in coronary and structural heart interventions. He performs various procedures including PCIs and structural heart procedures such as TAVI, mitraclips, transcatheter mitral valve replacements, PFO/ASD closures, and left atrial appendage closures.

Amit studied at the prestigious Christian Medical College in India followed by cardiology training at the Waikato Hospital in New Zealand. He furthered his skills by pursuing structural heart and interventional cardiology fellowships at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney followed by a year of structural intervention fellowship at the world-renowned Sunnybrook hospital in Toronto. He is also a Master of Philosophy candidate in medicine at the University of Sydney, where he conducts research on the outcomes and predictors of coronary artery plaque.

He has a passion for teaching and mentoring having taught and supervised medical students, junior doctors, and cardiology trainees at various institutions, including Christian Medical College Ludhiana, where he obtained his MBBS and MD degrees. Dr Amit has contributed to multiple publications and presentations on topics related to structural heart disease and interventional cardiology.

In addition to English, Dr Michael is fluent in Hindi and Punjabi, enabling him to effectively communicate with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds.

He is motivated by the opportunity to improve the quality of life and outcomes of patients with complex cardiac conditions, and to advance the field of structural heart interventions through innovation and collaboration.
